I’m back and kicking off the autumn blogging schedule with a review of the gorgeous new Fenty Beauty range by Rihanna!
I’ve got the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in shade 380, the Matchstix (Matte Skinstick in Truffle and the Shimmer Skinstick in Rum), The freestyle highlighter duo in Mean Money and Hu$tla Baby, Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule, and the Killawatt highlighter in Trophy Wife. Also the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer.
It’s been said before and I’ll say it again, these products are beautifully packaged, the magnetic Matchstix are such a cool touch and I love the hexagonal shape of most of the products.
Unfortunately the foundation is a few shades too dark for me, but with some clever blending and a good concealer it is wearable. Soft Matte is right, this foundation has a blurring affect that creates a velvet finish. As someone with dry skin I tend to veer away from anything matte, but this foundation genuinely gives a soft and smooth appearance rather than a dry one.
Both the highlighter duo sets are great on me, Mean Money and Hu$tla Baby, create a baby pink, pretty shimmer, they can also be used as a great undereye highlight. Then the Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule are more impactful and pigmented, you can build the colour to be dramatic but the colours are warm enough to be flattering and used lightly for a natural looking flush of colour.
Trophy Wife did not live up to the hype for me, as beautiful as it is to look at, when I’ve tried to put it on I always end up putting a bit too much on and having to wipe it away, you are slightly in danger of looking like you’re going to a child’s birthday party, so I guess less is more with this one. I’ve seen a few different beauty bloggers using Trophy Wife as a gorgeous eyeshadow and I think this could be the way to go, it is a great impacting colour but for me on the cheeks and nose it’s just too much.
I really enjoyed using the Matchstix, they’re super fun to apply! I would say that I found the Truffle contour a little hard to blend in, but that could be down to choosing the right brush or sponge (I didn’t get any of the Fenty brushes). The shimmery Matchstick in Rum is totally gorgeous and it completely matched my skin tone so it wasn’t much of a highlight, but it did give a healthy undetectable glow which in some ways is better.
The Gloss Bomb lipgloss is out-of-this-world, far and away my favourite lipgloss of all time, it’s a warm, sexy shine with just the right amount of shimmer that perfectly flatters the rest of the face. My mum, whose skin is a lot darker than mine, also absolutely loves it, I don’t know how they came up with a genuinely universal colour but they did, and it’s gorgeous.
All in all, I LOVE IT- can’t wait to see what comes next!
